Murray NEB–We had a great kick off to the homecoming week! On Sunday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m, the dance and cheer team hosted a camp for talented elementary students to participate in. The students were separated into three different groups: grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-6. A mix of dance and cheer team members were assigned to each age group to teach them different cheers and dances. It was evident that the kids were enjoying themselves from the bright smiles on their faces!

The dancers and cheerleaders taught the kids two cheers, and one dance. They were preparing for a big performance at the community pep rally. The kids were also taught different tricks and jumps that they can use in the future. Admission got all the kids free t-shirts to wear during the performance. Freshman cheerleader Gabi Tranisi stated, “Sometimes it is a little stressful handling a ton of kids at once, but it is also an amazing experience!” Freshman dancer Piper Isham exclaimed, “It was so much fun! I would love to do another camp again sometime!”

Towards the end of the day, everyone took a break and ate dinner to re-energize themselves for the pep rally. After dinner, everyone got right back to work and went over the choreography one last time to make sure they’ve got it all down! They then walked down to the track in their groups, and when they were announced, they went on the field to dance and cheer the night away!
