New Year, New Beginning

MURRAY, NEB- This 2021-2022 school year at Conestoga, we have a few new staff members joining us this school year! One of these staff members includes Josh Schliefert. Schliefert is Conestoga’s newest math teacher. He has been teaching for nine years now, and came from teaching at Weeping Water High School. Schliefert decided to come work at Conestoga since he “grew up around here, and wanted to teach at a small school, close to home.” He also has been told there’s a lot of good students at our school. Later in the school year, Schliefert will be involved in helping our activities director, Mr. Ahrens, coach the boys’ basketball team. Schliefert’s first thought on his first year teaching at Conestoga is that, “there are, overall, a bunch of good kids who seem to be pretty positive, have good attitudes, and are willing to learn.”

Here are some fun/random facts about Mr. Schliefert, so we can get to know him a little better. First off, so far his favorite school lunch meal has been the “Crispito.” Along with the food category, one of his all-time favorite restaurants is “Texas Roadhouse.” One of his favorite desserts is a “molten lava chocolate cake,” which sounds super tasty, and his favorite drink is water.

Schliefert’s favorite color is red and he most enjoys the season of fall. One thing he fears happens to be snakes. Schliefert is a very big sports and shoes fan, his favorite college football team is, of course, the Huskers, and his favorite NFL team is the Bangles. However, he enjoys watching a variety of sports such as football, basketball, golf, MMA, Nascar, and baseball. Along with his love of shoes, his favorite pair of shoes he owns are his “Zebra 350s,” and his “Bred 11s.”

Three places that would be his ideal dream vacation would be Glacier National Park, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Oddly enough, Schliefert states that, “Europe is overrated!” He thinks this because he has had the chance to visit Europe before! Lastly, Schliefert’s favorite decade of music falls into the 90s, though, his favorite song is, “Check Yes or No” by George Strait. Schleifert loves George Strait so much that if he could only listen to one music artist for the rest of his life, he would choose him!

Now that you know more about the amazing Mr. Schliefert, I hope everyone will be very kind and warm-welcoming of him to our school. We are thrilled to have him as a new staff member at Conestoga, and can’t wait for him to teach the students more and more throughout this school year and all the years to come.
