Conestoga Speech Team Places Third Overall at District competition

Jayden Speed receives his third place medal in extemporaneous speaking

Murray, NEB-After a good season, the Conestoga speech team competed in Districts. They have been working hard all season and during Districts they got the chance to prove themselves, which they did as they finished third overall and had several teammates’ place as well as one state qualifier.

The team consists of juniors Jayden S., Jagger P., Delaney D., Ella L., Mackenzie J., sophomores Dani A, John M., and seniors Addi A. and Lindee W. On March 5, they traveled to Raymond Central to compete in this year’s district competition. With them, they had the Conestoga speech coach Jessica Schlichtemeier, who has been coaching the team since 2005, and assistant coach Travis Graffe-Cline. The event went on all day long and after a long day of competing they finally had the results:

Jayden S. competed in the category Extemporaneous speaking where he placed 3rd which made him qualify for state. The Prowl talked to Delaney D. who said they all worked hard and gave it their all. She also said that the whole team is proud of Jayden and can not wait to see him rock it at state. Conestoga is proud of the speech team’s success!
