Murray, NEB- Sept. 25, there was a volleyball reserve tournament held at Plattsmouth with four teams competing; Weeping Water, Plattsmouth, Conestoga, and Platteview.
“I think we were having a hard time communicating, so some games were rough” states volleyball player Sophia T, “The first game, which was against Platteview, was pretty good, but we ended up losing. Our second game in the tournament was against Plattsmouth and we ended up letting our mistakes build up and just stopped communicating as a team. Our last game of the day was against Weeping Water, we picked up the intensity and communication and won.”
When asking some of the players how they think they played, Lydia T spoke up, “I think I played well for being put into a position I don’t usually play, although there were some mishaps with the team and rotation, we still played to the best of our ability. It’s not the best we’ve ever played in a game, but we didn’t let the negativity get to us and we kept cheering on the team.”
Even with the mishaps during the tournament, the Conestoga Cougars volleyball players were still positive and cheering on their teammates, “It was a tough group, but they played well,” says Coach Amy Tegels, “Little errors caught up to us during the Plattsmouth game, but we played until the end.”
In the end, Conestoga reserve volleyball team finished in third place, with Platteview first, Plattsmouth second, and Weeping Water fourth. With a final message from head coach Abby P, “I think the girls have a lot of fun when they’re on the court playing, and they love the support, so don’t be afraid to come out and support the girls.”
