MURRAY, NEB- Softball season is coming to an end for the Wildcats. They have one game left in their season before districts. Last week they hosted a conference with eight teams total.
The Wildcats is a team that combines students from Conestoga and Louisville. Coach Schreiner was an assistant coach for three years, but now is the co-head coach along Louisville. The conference was held at Ash Feild in Louisville. The first day of the conference was Saturday but due to the weather they had to stop early and resume playing on Monday.
Throughout the previous week at practice the girls worked on hitting and worked on getting to the bases. When Saturday came around the Wildcats arrived early to the fields to warm up and stretch to get ready for the full day ahead. The first game that they had was against Fort Calhoun. The final score was 10-0 with Fort Calhoun winning. According to head Coach Schreiner, “The girls put everything they had into games even though it didn’t go as they wanted it to, but they worked extremely hard and played well.”
Before the Wildcats could start the second game, the weather was not in their favor and was storming all around the fields causing them to call off the games. When resuming the games on Monday, they had a game between Logan View which ended 5-3 with the Wildcats just out of reach to grasp the win.
“Although our team didn’t place in the tournament, the Wildcats played their hearts out and got better because of it,” said Coach Schreiner
