MURRAY, Neb- The season is ending for the Cass Wildcats. Louisville will go back to being the Lions and Conestoga will go back to being the Cougars. The Wildcats ended up going 4-20 for the 2023 season. Although the team had a losing record, they were always being loud in the dugout, cheering on their teammates.
We asked a player from Conestoga, Sophia L, what she liked about being with Louisville. Sophia stated, “I like the co-op with Louisville. It is a cool opportunity to play with another school and make new friends.” She told us that the only con was, “Having to split practices between going to Louisville and Murray and it gets annoying.”
The Wildcats had three seniors on the team this year. From Conestoga, Harleigh V, and from Louisville, Lauren G. and Lily H. Harleigh was the Wildcats Varsity starting center fielder and was always known for cheering on her teammates in the outfield. Lauren was the Wildcats Varsity starting catcher and she always picked up the pitcher whenever she was down on herself. Lily H. was injured this year and was not able to play but when it came to games, she was always sitting on the bench cheering on her fellow Wildcats.
One player from Conestoga, Hannah B. hit two over the fence home runs, one against DC-West and the other, Plattsmouth. Another Conestoga player, Elizabeth H. has stolen a total of 18 bases in just one season and has had a total of 49 bases stolen in her varsity career. Emma R, A player from Louisville, has a batting average of .315 while the National Average batting average is .288. Until next year, Wildcats out.
