Conestoga Jr/Sr High School has announced its student council roster for the upcoming school year, highlighting the diverse group of elected representatives who will take on leadership roles within the school.
The council is composed of students from junior high all the way to seniors.
When asked about what the student council does, advisor Amy McHenry explained, “Student council is an organization that strives to do community service and do things for students and staff, high school and elementary. Anyone can join, everyone is encouraged to. People that are interested or wanting to help others, improve the school, and promote Conestoga in a positive way are highly encouraged to join.”
Returning member Rhiannon J, a sophomore, shares her favorite experience while in the council. “My best experience on student council overall would have to be just being a part of the team in general. I like helping decide things for our school and making it the best community it can be. I also like hearing a lot of the other students’ opinions and ideas.”
For some students, joining the Student Council is an opportunity to make a difference. New member Alyssa B, a senior, discussed her motivation for participating this year. “I love being involved with my school. I like to help make decisions that could affect our school, as I have a student point of view rather than a teacher’s or board members. It’s my senior year and I wanted to be involved with as many things as possible.”
The Conestoga High Student Council is an active group focused on enhancing the high school experience for students. With returning members sharing their insights and new members eager to contribute, the council aims to engage the student body throughout the year.
“Student council is a good way to be involved,” states Alyssa B, “it also looks really good on resumes.”
