While I was watching “The Matrix” I had a curious question: does watching action films boost violence among children?
In my opinion I think it does promote violence among young children. One huge aspect of this is that it impacts children’s mental health. After watching an action film with much violence, children can start to have the perspective that crime and violence are ok. This mindset of violence can cause children to be more likely to imitate what they see on action films and be less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others.
Another aspect of young children watching violence in films is that their behavior and attitude will change. Children can become more aggressive and act in harmful ways to others whether at family, friends, or just peers around school. This aggressive behavior can result in physical aggression like punching, swearing, and even biting. Once it gets to physical aggression that’s where it can get very serious and is a risk to other people’s lives. That could cause the
perpetrator to be expelled from school and activities, missing out on the fun in childhood.
Even as a teenager I have nightmares after watching violent films, it is even worse with children. Children struggle with positive mindsets because they are used to watching violent films. After a child watches a violent film they have nightmares and fear that monsters are under the bed or hiding in the closet. First of all your poor child can not sleep and second parents are disrupted by their child coming to them for comfort. These can all cause problems with sleeping habits which then arise the problem of being too sleepy at school and doing bad on work.
All these problems arise when young children watch action films, so please all parents be aware.
