There are many theories why red and green are Christmas colors but there is one we are going to dig deeper on.
Christmas is a time to celebrate others and mostly to celebrate the birth of Jesus. As you know the Bible, that most Christianity uses, informs people of Jesus’s life before he was born and after. Throughout the Bible, red and green have been symbolized for the life of Jesus. Historically ancient Christianity began to use these colors for decor or celebratory reasons and soon they became known as classic Christmas colors.
Christianity thought of the idea that red represents the blood shed by Jesus during his crucifixion. Christians believe red can symbolize the surfer Jesus had to face and making it a Christmas color gives the world the opportunity to think and celebrate Jesus’s courage as that red generally symbolizes love, courage, and romance.
Green symbolizes the evergreen tree, representing eternal life. Evergreen plants such as the holly or mistletoe are used at Christmas time to signify the eternal nature and Jesus’s life. In pagan times, they were a reminder that nature keeps growing, even through the cold seasons. Green generally symbolizes money, good luck, and health through the holiday season.
Red and Green come together to make a special spark in Christmas, making it a joyful and wonderful time for all!
