Since it is winter and super cold, of course you would want to go get hot chocolate and or coffee from the library to warm you up. It is called the Cougar Cafe and drinks are $1 each. The Cougar Cafe is open every Friday for three months in the library. Librarian Tracy Morton has a stand with hot chocolate and coffee that you can choose from, there is creamer for the coffee, and marshmallows for hot chocolate. There is also ice that she has available that you can put in whatever you got if you need to cool it down or prefer it to be iced. This is a great opportunity for the students to help the library earn money for things such as books and maybe seating and others but it is also a great way to keep warm for the cold days.
The Cougar Cafe has been open for 10 years now. Originally it took place at the book fair that Morton had opened in the library where she had served cookies and hot chocolate. At first it only lasted a week, then it turned to every Friday for a month, and now it is every Friday for three months.
“I had realized that students enjoyed the hot chocolate and cookies instead of the books. So it was then that I decided I would forget the book fair and just sell hot chocolate and coffee and buy the books with the money that I get from the sales,” said Morton.
“I like being able to look forward to a little, cheap hot chocolate,” said Morgan S.
“I love getting the time to visit with the students and warm up their day with hot chocolate and coffee!” said Morton.
