Murray, NEB- Thanksgiving is a holiday that focuses on being with family and friends and eating a plentiful feast. Thanksgiving originated in 1621 and it is always the fourth Thursday of the 11th month. This holiday memorializes a harvest festival celebrated by the pilgrims.
For Thanksgiving everyone has their own favorite choice of dish and everyone has their own traditions, here are a few examples: Many people break the turkey’s wishbone for good luck, then the traditional Thanksgiving feast (the most important part of Thanksgiving), share what you are most thankful for (usually people share what or whom they are most thankful for at the table right before they eat), watch a football game. Football is a very popular sport so many people have Thanksgiving football parties. For Thanksgiving a common thing is people having two Thanksgivings, one with their family and then another one with their friends. Some Thanksgivings are similar to a potluck meaning they invite several people and then have each person bring a dish (this is a very popular thing because it saves the person hosting it several dishes and time).
