Murray, NEB – Live music in local areas can benefit the community while bringing people together. The Lucas Minor Band is familiar with the relationship between live music and local communities.
Lucas Minor grew up in Murray, Neb., and attended Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School until eighth grade. Minor grew up playing piano at home and his interest in music continued into high school where he joined the band and became passionate about guitar. Whether with a full band or performing solo, they play a mix of country, southern rock, and Americana music. His songs are on all major streaming platforms and is currently working on several EP’s set to be released by summer of 2025.
“During a show, folks get to take a break from life’s normal stresses and complications,” Minor describes. Live music gives musicians and music lovers a break from real life, even if it’s a short amount of time. A way to create a sense of community pride is by supporting local musicians. When people see someone they know on stage, it gives them a sense of belonging.
“In my experience, people with wildly different views on life get along during an engaging show,” explains Minor. Music is a worldwide expression that brings people together. People of all backgrounds and beliefs enjoy live music together.
“The communities we play in have a direct impact on our music. The style of the people, the town, or the festival/ venue affects how the show goes, the songs we play, the energy, etc,” Minor shares. The style of the area including the town and the type of people affects how the band performs and the overall show goes. The songs the band plays are based on the area and the audience. The audience contributes to the performance through their energy.
“We still currently rehearse outside of Nehawka, and I’ve got a lot of references to the area in many of my songs,” informs Minor. Minor grew up in Murray so the areas of Plattsmouth,Murray, Nehawka, and many other surrounding towns have had an impact on the Lucas Minor Band’s music and their lives.
The Lucas Minor Band will be performing at Tank’s Country in Lincoln, Neb. at 9 p.m.

Lucas Minor was a tremendous Cougar during his time at Conestoga, and was active in music and sports, and he excelled academically. His love of music, and the extensive opportunities in music that were afforded him at a Class A school was a key reason he transfered. It was a loss for Conestoga, but as I followed what he was accomplishing even before he graduated, it was obvious his choice was the one which has enabled him to perform at the level he is. Great article, and the use of significant interview quotes tell us a great deal about Lucas’ personality and passion.
