The 2024 volleyball season is coming to an end. Parents and seniors got to participate in this years’ pink out volleyball game on Thursday, Oct. 24. This was volleyball’s last home game. The girls competed against Raymond Central. Both JV and varsity played and both won! All the girls on the team wore breast cancer awareness shirts made by the life skills class to bring awareness throughout the school day and warmups. Seniors got to walk with their parents in between the games.
The first game of the night started at 6. JV played two sets. The score for the first set was 25-23. The score for the second set, making it a close set, was 26-24. Some of the players on reserved got a little playing time during the second set, as it was the last home game and they didn’t have an actual game.
“Our JV did very well. We did a mix of our reserved team and JV team. Both came out and worked hard.” JV Coach, Tommy Sigler, said. “The two biggest things we improved on from the beginning of the season to now are talking and trusting each other. One of the biggest things I think everyone can still improve on is believing in themselves.”
This year, volleyball has five seniors, Bella G, Divida G, Raquel H, Gabby T, and Ava T. During parent night, all the seniors got to walk through the gym with their parents before the varsity game. They walked as their plans for the future, as well as their favorite memories were being announced. They each received flowers and a gift that all the girls on the team put money towards.
“When I was walking with my parents, I was just thinking about how it is going to be my last game at Conestoga and how I wanted to do my best,” Senior Raquel H. said. “Throughout the season, I liked making new friends and making new relationships with people on the team throughout my four years.”
Varsity played four sets. The score for the first set was 25-20. The score for the second set was 20-25. The score for the third set was 25-22. The score for the last set was 25-21, giving Conestoga the win. This was the girls 21st win of the season.
“My favorite part of the night,” Raquel H. says,“was playing one last time at home with my friends and getting some awesome blocks and kills.”
