State Wrestling is the pinnacle of all state events. It takes hard work, dedication, and mental toughness to make it to state.The Conestoga girls wrestling team showed their hard work and showed that they had what it took to make it to the biggest wrestling event of the year in the whole state of Nebraska. A total of seven out of the eight athletes qualified for state on the Conestoga girls wrestling team. Boys wrestling also showed their strength qualifying a total of two boys for state out of the five boys that wrestled for state contention.
The girls wrestling team placed 2nd overall in class B district 4 with a total of 8 wrestlers, while some of the other teams had ten or eleven girls on their team. That is pretty impressive only having eight girls and getting second place overall also having basically your whole team qualifying for state is really impressive. Boys wrestling also had an impressive district with James K getting 1st and Cole K, a Freshman, getting 3rd overall in districts.
The state wrestling event showed the Conestoga cougar wrestlers grit and determination with James K earned runner up in the 157 weight class and Maggie F becoming a state wrestling champion at 155 pounds, Alex P, and Ava F earned 6th place, and Kyler Z, and Jazlyn E getting 5th place. Girls wrestling received 8th overall for a team score in class B.
The Conestoga wrestling program showed that it can compete in class c and thrive at state.
