Murray, NEB- April 19th Conestoga held their NHS induction ceremony where they recognised senior members, welcomed new members, and took pictures. The members of the NHS program consisted of 24 new members and 21 senior members. Jagger Plevel was awarded the scholarship for most service hours, he had 63 service hours this year. Family and friends gathered around in the commons to celebrate and cheer on the newly inducted members of NHS and to say a farewell to the senior members of NHS. The students ranging from sophomores to juniors listened to and recited the new member pledge. The purpose of the National Honor Society (NHS) is to recognize and encourage academic achievements. Once the NHS members are selected and accepted, they meet on a regular basis, and are also involved in numerous activities at school and out of school.
In order to be selected into NHS the students must first reach the requirement of 92% GPA or higher and submit an application. Application requirements can include; having a resume with good leadership, character, service and scholarship and then having a letter that explains why you would make a good candidate. The applications are then reviewed by a faculty committee where final decisions are made. This new group of members joining NHS is a fantastic group who will bring much success to the National Honor Society.
