NEB- Conestoga High School track has officially started as of Feb. 26 when the first practice took place. They had about two weeks worth of practices before the first meet. The indoor meet was held at Doane where the girls placed 2nd and the boys placed fourth out of 14 teams.
The next meet was held at DC West. Conestoga participated in this meet because of all the cancellations due to weather. The girls earned third place and the boys earned 10th out of 16 schools. Head coach Tommy Sigler states, “It was a very competitive and evenly matched meet for the competition competing there.”
As of now, no other missed meets are being rescheduled.
The most recent meet was Tuesday, April 9th at Yutan. The girls placed second and the boys received fifth place out of eight teams. The high school team will be attending the JV meet in Plattsmouth on Monday, April 15th at 2:30p.m. They will also be attending the Louisville invitational starting at 1:30p.m.
Coach Sigler quotes, “The girls and boys are doing well during the first part of the season. With the limited amount of meets, they are all eagerly wanting to get out to compete against other teams.” He said, “Over the next couple weeks, we will be able to see more growth from the competitions we will be attending.”
