Hopping into Spring Sports

MURRAY, Neb- Winter sports will soon be finishing up for Conestoga Jr/Sr High School, and the 2024 spring sports season is just around the corner for Conestoga Jr/Sr High. Monday, Feb. 26, will be the first official day of spring sports practices. Then, less than a month later will be the boys soccer team’s first home game. In that same week, track and field will have their first meet at Doane College. These spring sports will only last about two and a half months out of the school year.

High school boys and girls soccer season should last from the end of February until the beginning of May. Anton Yost will remain the head girls soccer coach in the 2024 season. The boys soccer coaches will also stay the same with Larry Welch keeping his head position, and Jeffery Brokaw and Jacob Belvery being his assistant coaches. Last year, Zeb Simones and Andy Kayhanfar helped out but this year whether or not they will continue is undecided and unknown.

Conestoga’s girls and boys high school track and field season will last about the same as soccer. As for who coaches what will be a little bit different than the 2023 season. Becky Michel will be coaching weights (shot and discus). Sarah Harvey will be coaching hurdles again but this year she is now coaching pole vault as well. Brady Bergmeyer will be coaching sprints as well as jumps. Tommy Sigler will be coaching distance again this year.
