State Cross Country Recap
The Annual State Cross Country Meet
MURRAY, NEB- This year was a good one. Conestoga had two state cross country qualifiers this year! Junior Cadyn S. and four-time state cross country qualifier, senior Danie P. They both placed very well, and the students of Conestoga couldn’t be more proud of them.
This year, state cross country was held on Oct. 22, and it was quite eventful. Conestoga’s Jr./Sr. High School provided a spirit bus to the students who wanted to go cheer on our two qualifiers during state. There were about 30 students who attended the meet, and they had a blast! After all of the students gathered onto the bus, they took their 3 hour trip to state cross country, which was held in Kearney, Nebraska. After the students arrived, they assembled into the meet and found their spots where they would begin their cheering. First up, Danie P. ran in the class C girls division, and following soon after, Cadyn S. ran for the class C boys division. The Conestoga students were rallying for them as loud as they possibly could.
In the end, Danie ended up placing fifth in her division, and Cadyn ended up in 46th in his division! The students’ spirits couldn’t have been more elevated when senior Danie P. was awarded her medal for being in the top 15 of her division. Soon after Conestoga’s runners were finished, and Danie had been awarded her medal, the students headed back to the bus, on their way back to the school outside of Murray. It was the evening by the time they reached the school, and everyone was restless from all of their raised spirits and restless cheering. However, it was an experience no one will ever forget, and all of the students cannot wait until next year to head back to Kearney for state cross country!
