MURRAY, Neb. – Last Friday, Sept. 16 the Conestoga football team played their homecoming game against their rival, the Weeping Water Indians. The Cougars play the Indians every year for Homecoming.

The Cougars played a long hard game, but lost 64-6. “This wasn’t the best game we have played this year and we will continue to work on the mistakes and continue to get better,” Coach Clausen stated.

The star players, according to stats, were #21 Carter P. and #7 Jayden W. Plowman scored the team 74 rushing yards along with many other offensive plays. In the third quarter, Jayden W. caught a 65 yard kickoff return and ran it in for a touchdown. Seniors #7 Jayden W., #21 Carter P. and #50 Gage T. led the Cougars’ defense along with juniors #57 Alrich R., #14 Jake C. and #30 Aaron W.

This was both the Cougars’ and the Indians’ homecoming game so the crowd was huge. The theme was spirit day for the football game, so all of the fans were dressed their best in burgundy and gold.

All of the jr./sr. high students and parents showed up and appeared to have a great time cheering on their team. The crowd atmosphere was great and they supported the cheerleaders with their cheers to get the crowd pumped up for the players on the field. In the end, the effort was there, but they could not pull out the win.
