Cougar Classic

Murray, NEB – On Dec. 3, Conestoga hosted their annual meet to kick off the wrestling season, the Cougar Classic. There were over 300 boys and girls wrestlers entered in the meet.The Cougars had 16 tournament medallists and had 4 champions. As a team, the boys finished in third palace with 153 points, while the girls finished in first place with 128 points.

Conestoga boys wrestled a tough day, with a few of the top 10 teams in the state at the meet. Gage T was the boys champion at 220 lbs after getting a pin in the third period. Asher K at 113 lbs, Collin D at 132 lbs, Carter P at 152 lbs and Lucas A at 170 lbs all finished in second place. Kaden S got a third place finish at 170 lbs. Mason S finished in fourth place at 160 lbs. As a team they finished in third out of 12 teams with 153 points. They finished behind the Logan View Raiders with 199 points and Bishop Nueman with 171.5 points.

Conestoga girls wrestled a very successful and exciting day. As a team the nine girls finished in first place overall with 128 pts. All of the nine girls that competed collected medals. Emory T got gold at 130 lbs after a first period pin. Kylee P at 120 lbs and Morgan H at 140 lbs both secured their back to back championship finishes at the Cougar Classic. Alex P at 125lbs and Hannah B at 135 lbs both fell short of the gold and collected their second place finish. At 170 lbs Gabby L received a third place medal. Both Maggie F at 155 lbs and Allee J at 235 finished the tournament with fourth place medals. The girls have yet again made Conestoga history for taking first in the tournament.
