Murray, NEB- Fall sports are in full swing at Conestoga. The Conestoga Cross Country team opened their season on Aug. 24 at Cass County Fairgrounds with varsity boys and girls both competing. The girls competed in the 5k race, and as a team they finished in second place out of three teams with a total of 11 points.

The girls who found individual success included Alaina M, Elliott Z, and Dani A. All of the girls placed in the top seven, starting with Alaina who got seventh with a time of 28:02. and just in front of her was Eillott who got fifth with a time of 25:32 Dani ran a time of 22:01, winning the varsity girls 5k race.

Conestoga’s second meet would be on Sept.1 they would have to travel to Tecumseh, where JV and varsity boys were competing along with the varsity girls in the 5k race. Conestoga boys varsity finished eighth out of ten teams totaling 128 points.

The top finishers for the Conestoga boys included James K and Colton B. Both of them would finish one after the other getting twenty-third and twenty-fourth. James completed the race with a time of 21:18, and Colton finished with a time of 21:27.

The Conestoga girls finished third out of five teams, and ended with 47 points. Dani received runner-up, with a time of 21:39, and Elliott received a time of 25:51 earning her fourteenth place. Their races coming up are at Bennington, Branched Oak State, University of Nebraska-Kearney, Syracuse, and finally they will end their season back at Cass County Fairgrounds for the conference invitational.
