Morgan S is a sophomore at Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School. She participates in soccer, basketball, one act, softball, FFA, and student council.
I asked Morgan a few questions on how she handles this academic and athletic pressure throughout her day. “How I lead teammates that might be older than me is I try to talk to them about maybe the mistake they are making, but since they are older they might not want to listen to you. Since they are older sometimes you have to lead by example.” This response shows Morgan’s mentality and her demeanor about handling upperclassmen.
Morgan demonstrates a lot of leadership skills, leading the soccer team as one of the three captains. While she is playing on the field, she is one of the leading communicators helping her teammates to do the right thing, still give the most effort they can, and reassure them to make sure they do not feel badly about themselves.
“I think that being in multiple sports have helped me become a better athlete not only mentally but physically in many ways. But not only that but it has made me become a better student. Being able to manage my time and prioritize my education over something I love is something being in multiple athletics has taught me.” Morgan’s perseverance throughout her sports, and in class shows her dedication to her education and athleticism.
Soccer practice is every day besides Sunday, constantly working and interacting with her teammates. Morgan is also involved with a select league for softball, the Omaha Echoes, which sometimes she has to leave after practice almost immediately to make it to her other practice in time. This example shows that Morgan is heavily committed to her sports and shows huge maturity with her captain title, holding it highly.
