The scoreboard read 3-4, but that number doesn’t tell the full story of the Cougars’ battle against The Platte. In a game of intensity and energy, the Cougars came up just one point short at the end of the game.
The Cougars had to come into the game aggressive because they knew that this game was a tough match up. As the game was progressing, The Platte ended up making the first goal of the game, but the Cougars didn’t let that stop them.
Both teams went back and forth making goals. Truitt A and Brandt M ended the second half with a score of 2-2. The Cougars had to break this tie by going into overtime. They had a team huddle and discussed their game plan to make a tie breaking goal.
Fifteen minutes was set on the clock for the first half of overtime. No goals were made but after they had a short half-time break, they knew they had to spring into action. The Platte ended up making the first goal in the second half of overtime. But then Dylan K shot a goal from the top of the goal box making it 3-3.
The game started getting intense and the ball kept getting passed up and down the field. It gradually got more aggressive due to the stress of the game and more fouls started to be called. Once it got down to the last minutes of the game, The Platte made the game winning goal which brought the score 4-3.
“Since it was my last season game as a senior, I still think the team tried its best and ended the season with hard work and a positive attitude,” remarked Mason M.
