Boys, Girls Basketball Teams Pick Up Road Wins

PALMYRA, NEB.–On Tuesday, January 19th, the Conestoga boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Palmyra to take on the Panthers. Both the boys and girls teams won their and varsity games and the girls also won their junior varsity game.

COUGARS 62, PANTHERS 47

The Conestoga girls basketball team added another win to their season with a 62-47 win over the panthers. The Cougars took a strong 21-14 lead over the Panthers in the first quarter, and continued to hold the remainder of the contest.

Lindee Watson led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points. Mati Steckler and Ali Gansmer each added 12 points. Myah Cummings, Taylor McClatchey, and Sophia Ackerman also scored for the Cougars.

The girls junior varsity also won, beating the Panthers 31-24. Jameson Yost scored 11 to lead the JV team. Sophia Tegels added nine, and MacKaylee Madsen, Ali Gansmer, Danie Parriott, and Dani Ahrens also scored for the Cougars.

COUGARS 60, PANTHERS 58

The Conestoga boys basketball team added another win to their season total with an exciting 60-58 victory over Palmyra. After a quick start by the Panthers, the Cougars pulled through and finished with a game winning shot by Lane Fox.

Leading the team in scoring was Ben Welch with 23, followed by Lane Fox with 16. Jack Welch , Koby Vogler, Ty Fox, Noah Simones, and Tobias Nolting also scored for the Cougars.

The Conestoga boys JV had a close game with the Panthers, dropping the contest 43-37. Leading the boys JV in scoring was Noah Simones. Jayden Widler, Evan Svanda, Johnny Welter and Kaden Simmerman also found the basket for the Cougars.
