What’s Kickin’ With Girls Soccer?
Conestoga girls soccer approaches half-way mark in season boasting a winning record.
Murray, Ne. – The 2021 season has been one of success so far for the lady cougars. The squad, led by coach Scott Robertson, boasts a 6-2 overall record while routing opponents by a combined score of 32-13.
The Cougars have spread the love so far in 2021, having nine girls with at least one goal on the season. Sophomore Ella Wilson leads the team with nine goals in just eight games. Junior Angelina Flores has also been raking in the goals, as she has booted in six goals herself in only seven games.
Senior Taylor McClatchey had been sideline for the first four games of the season due to injury, but since her return in an 11-1 domination against Crete, McClatchey has struck paydirt three times in just four games, and she also has accounted for three assists, a mark that is second only to Ella Wilson with four assists.
The lady Cougars have held a pretty balanced attack all season, as all 18 of their rostered players have made appearances in games. Lindee Watson (Jr.) leads the Cougars with 558 minutes played through seven games, and MacKaylee Madsen (So.) is close behind with 550. Sophomores Addie Priefert and Jameson Yost have also been making their impact as the two have both contributed four goals. Priefert has also accounted for three assists, and Yost has accounted for three game winning goals this season.
Watson has also been crucial for the Cougars’ success, as she has made a goalkeeping appearance in all eight games so far this season. The Cougar’s goalkeeper has accounted for 40 saves, allowing only 1.8 goals per game.
On the back half of the Cougars’ season, the squad will face off against the powers of Gross Catholic, Roncalli Catholic, Beatrice, Platteview, and Auburn.
With five games and change to go, the Conestoga girls soccer team is showing no signs of slowing down.
