Should Winter break be longer? This will tell why it should be longer or not.
Conestoga has the same length of winter break as Louisville and Plattsmouth which is 17 days, and it even has a longer winter break than Weeping Water who has a winter break of 16 days.
Winter break is important because of many religious holidays that are in the winter break period including: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Hanukkah, Kwanza, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, and even for some winter solstice. These holidays are important for many people. Without winter break some people may not be able to celebrate fully or people also will not be able to enjoy the winter snow with their families. If winter break was longer by one more day it would also include Three Kings Day which is a biblical holiday that celebrates the arrival of the Three Kings.
Vacations are also a factor for winter break. Many families go on vacation to visit families or just to go to some place that is warmer than where they live, or they may go to some place colder or more mountains to go skiing. Without winter break many families wouldn’t be able to see their relatives or go and enjoy themselves at a warm place in the middle of winter.
Christmas break should be longer by one day because then it would include Three Kings Day and it will also shorten the first week back which will help everyone adjust back to school.
