Juniors and seniors got gussied up and boogied the night away at prom on April 25. The theme, A Black Tie Affair, prompted students to wear their finest party attire and come ready for a night of dancing and fun.
For many, prom is a magical, unforgettable experience. Unlike homecoming, only juniors and seniors can purchase tickets. All the stops are pulled out to ensure that the night is enjoyable and memorable for all.
Junior Class Vice President Grace R remarks, “My favorite part of the night was when the sun went down and the lights were going crazy while everyone was out on the dance floor.” Senior Miley C adds, “My favorite part this year was getting to do the senior march and walk down with my buddy Maggie.”
However, the magical night wouldn’t have been the same without the people working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Planners and chaperones alike made the night a dream.
“My goal for planning prom was to try and make things people would like,” states Grace. “When making the decorations, we put in time to make sure they look close to perfect so everyone can have a fun night.” Chaperone Tracy Morton said, “My duties were to announce prom court, dance, and make sure everyone was having a good time.”
Likewise, sophomores helped the event operate efficiently by waiting on prom attendees. Their contributions sometimes go unnoticed, but that doesn’t make them any less essential.
Sophomore Mya K notes, “I was a prom server this year. I helped set up and keep things clean during prom.” She adds, “My favorite part was that I was still allowed to dance and have fun with everyone while still doing my job of helping and doing my part to keep things clean and fun for all.”
For many seniors, prom might feel like the final chapter in their high school career. Although it is a fun night, it can also be emotional. “I am sad that it’s my last prom in high school,” comments Miley, “but I’m grateful for all the years I was able to attend and enjoy.”
