I don’t feel like enough people say this in the US but, the mistakes that everyone makes everyday don’t only affect you, they also affect the wildlife. A major example of this is the melting ice caps in the polar regions. The carbon dioxide and other pollution like the factory waste that flows into the sea, increasing the pollution. All the carbon dioxide that is absorbed into the atmosphere feeds into the greenhouse effect; an effect in which the atmosphere doesn’t release the heat, instead it collects it. This often causes sudden weather changes. The warm water, absolutely polluted with waste, flows down to the arctic, causing the ice to melt and taking away the homes and food of animals such as the polar bear.
As the ice continues to dissipate, polar bears are left struggling to survive. Without stable ice, they lose access to the seals they rely on for food, forcing them to travel farther and expend more energy for less reward. Many bears become malnourished, and young cubs often do not survive these harsher conditions. The longer periods without food weaken the polar bears, making it harder for them to reproduce and care for their young.
Over time, this leads to a lower population and a fragile future for the species survival. What may seem like small, everyday human actions such as burning fuel, producing waste, and polluting the environment are adding up to create lasting damage in places most people will never even see. Yet the consequences are life-threatening for animals that depend entirely on that environment. Polar bears aren’t the only species that are being harmed in the process; animals such as walrusses, seals, arctic foxes, and penguins are suffering as well.
