Every year, when the seasons shift and the air starts to hint at change, students at Conestoga High School fall into the same debate: Which season is the best? A column of 23 students showed clearly which seasons they like most.
Summer came out on top, earning eight votes. Supporters praised its long days, warm nights and the freedom that comes with school being out. For many, summer represents possibility–time to work, travel or simply breathe after a long year.
Spring followed closely with seven votes. Students who chose it said they appreciate the sense of renewal. After months of cold, the return of green grass and blooming trees feels like a reset. Spring athletes also argued that nothing beats the energy of the season’s first outdoor practices.
Fall landed in third place with five votes. Fans of the season pointed to crisp air, football games and the return of routines. They said fall feels comforting, like slipping back into something familiar.
Winter, unsurprisingly, finished last with three votes. Still, its supporters defended it with enthusiasm. They said winter brings a kind of quiet that no other season offers. Snow days, holiday traditions and the chance to slow down all earned winter a loyal, if small, following.
The results show that every season has its champions. Whether it’s the heat of July or the chill of January, students find meaning in the rhythms of the year and the debate isn’t ending anytime soon.
