Spelling bee champions, Hunter H and Noah E

Murray, NEB- On Jan. 10th Conestoga held their spelling bee for the second year in a row. The spelling bee consisted of 7th and 8th graders who had made it past the first round. Hunter H won first place overall and Noah E placed runner up. The two boys will be headed to Weeping Water Feb. 8 to compete against other Cass County schools.

“I thought it went very well. Some students studied the words quite a bit and seemed well prepared overall,” Tracy Morton Conestoga’s librarian stated. The spelling bee hosts included Jesse Swantek, Jeff Brokaw, Amy McHenry and Tracy Morton. Swantek and Brokaw gave the students definitions of their words when needed.

We would like to extend a good job to all the junior high students who competed in this year’s spelling bee and good luck to the two students going to compete in Weeping Water. Good Luck Cougars!
