State Wrestlers Find Success

MURRAY, Neb – Five Conestoga wrestlers competed this last weekend in the NSAA State Championships. A couple of them found very much success, earning themselves a state medal and on earning the very first girls state championship at Conestoga.

Conestoga sent three of the boys to the state tournament. The boys had a hard road to find success and ended their season in the second round of the state tournament. At 152 lbs Carter P. ended his senior season with a record of 31-11. Carter has found many successes in his career of wrestling. Lucas A. at 160 lbs ended his senior season with a record of 29-14 and at 220 lbs senior, Gage T. ended his season with an overall record of 40-11.

Along with the three boys, Conestoga sent two girls to the second year of the NSAA girl sanctioned state wrestling championship. A freshman, along with a first year wrestler, Maggie F. placed 3rd in the 145 lb bracket. Maggie got herself a spot in the semi finals with two pins. Maggie fell just short of the finals with a loss in the semifinals with a loss of 14-9. She then secured her 3rd place medal with two more pins. Maggie ended her first year of wrestling with a record of 43-8.

Kylee P. at 115 lbs, last year’s runner up, found a lot of success this year. Kylee ended her sophomore season with a record of 41-3 and a state championship. Kylee found herself with three pins before securing her spot in the finals. In the finals, Kylee won her match with a pin of 1:02 against Sophia S. of Raymond Central. She had an amazing celebration, throwing her wrestling coach Rob Everret before then jumping into coach Sean Trampes arms for a celebratory hug. After the match, Kylee said,
