When the Conestoga Cougars arrived at Louisville for the conference tournament game, everyone was nervous but excited. Conestoga played Louisville for their first game of the season. You could tell from warm-ups that this game was going to be intense. Both teams wanted to win really badly, and nobody was planning to back down.
The game started off close, with both teams scoring and playing strong defense. Every basket felt important, and the crowd reacted to everything. The Lions used their home court advantage to get some early points, but the Cougars stayed calm and kept working together. By halftime, the Cougars were up by two but knew they had to stay focused and work together to keep the lead.
“Our game plan for this game was to go out and ‘hunt’ like many of our other games. Our main goals were to execute the plays, limit turnovers, rebound, and play our hardest,” Stated Isabel B. “I think that we overall played harder and wanted to improve from the first game.. We executed our plays and game plan a lot better overall we still have some things we need to do to improve but comparing the games I think we played better basketball overall.”
During half time the Conestoga girls were hyped. Last time they played Louisville the game wasn’t this close. They were drawing up new game plans to finish out the game. The crowd cheered as they came out while the girls got back to work.
“The game plan for that game was to go into it fired up and ready to work hard. We drew up different plays to change some stuff since we played them last,” Said Grace R. “I also think we had better hustle and energy while playing. I think overall we played well and we played as a team but there are still things we can improve on.”
The fourth quarter felt like it lasted forever. Every possession mattered, and the pressure was high. Louisville took the lead toward the end and went on a scoring spree. The Conestoga Cougars were not done fighting yet though. They battled until the very end leaving the score 60 to 49. Both teams played very well for this conference match up.
