Under the bright lights of Nebraska’s CHI Center, Maggie F didn’t just compete, she made history.
The Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School senior captured the Class B 155-pound state wrestling title. With the win, Maggie secured her second consecutive state championship, finishing her high school wrestling career at the very top of the podium.
But Maggie’s journey to gold was about more than just one tournament. Throughout the season, Maggie showed consistency, toughness, and leadership; qualities that set her apart every time she stepped on the mat. At state, she powered through her bracket and ultimately claimed the title with a pin, proving she could handle pressure when it matters the most.
What makes Maggie’s accomplishment even more impressive is the legacy she leaves behind. During her championship run, she also reached her 200th career victory, becoming just the second female wrestler in Nebraska history to hit that milestone. “It’s really special, I am just really proud of myself.” Maggie states. It’s a number that reflects years of dedication, early mornings, tough practices, and commitment to her sport.
Despite coming from a smaller program, Maggie helped put Conestoga wrestling on the map. The Cougars sent only a handful of athletes to the state tournament, yet every qualifier returned with a medal. Maggie says, “I enjoy my small team, I have made friends and I love being with them even if we are going through a hard practice.”
For Maggie, the title was the perfect ending. After years of competing and growing in one of the toughest high school sports, she closed her career exactly how every wrestler dreams: a champion.
