The Veterans Day program was held in the auditorium at the Jr./Sr. High on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. The seats were full of both students, teachers, and veterans alone or with their families. all of the audience were requested to turn off all phones, watches, and other devices so as to not interrupt the service.
The program started off with the presentation of the colors presented by the Conestoga FFA and a wonderful performance of the National Anthem performed by the Conestoga Jr./Sr. High band, as well as a splendid performance of the middle and high school choir singing “Star Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key. During the program a selected few students shared their views on what Veterans Day means to them and why it is important through writing, poems, and memories of the veterans in their lives.
The morning ended with yet another performance from the Jr./Sr. High band as the students of FFA finished off with the folding of the flag, and an explanation for what all the folds represent, in order to honor all veterans who have protected the U.S. After the program veterans were sent out to enjoy some snacks and refreshments in the school cafeteria and look at the many Veterans Day cards the students made to thank them for their service, while students were sent in a silent and timely manner back to their classes in order to resume their learning.
