Murray, NEB- The National Honor Society held its annual new member induction and senior recognition ceremony on Wednesday April, 22. Members and their families gathered in the high school commons for the ceremony, followed by pictures and refreshments.
There were 16 new members inducted into the society: one senior, three juniors, and 12 sophomores. These new members include: Jaren A, Owen B, Layla F, Piper G, Delaney H, Jagger H, Cole K, Carter K, Gage K, Mya K, Jude K, Kendall M, Scout N, Zachary S, Morgan S, and Emma T.
The new members were selected into the National Honor Society based on their character, leadership, service, and scholarship. Rebecca Spangler said, “I am excited to see what new ideas they have to bring more service and leadership to the school!”
At the ceremony, five selected seniors spoke to represent the five pillars of the NHS. The speakers were Dylan K for knowledge, KK J for scholarship, Ayla G for service, Maggie F for character, and Jozlyn K for leadership. Junior, Rhiannon J, was also selected to speak.
After the new members were inducted, the seniors were honored for their service and commitment. There were 13 senior members of the NHS, six of whom had been involved for both years. They all received their graduation stoles and were recognized for their membership. Spangler explained, “This senior class has been very service-oriented and has responded to lots of requests for help in the community. They have also demonstrated significant improvement, hard work, and leadership throughout their time.”
