All the staff at Conestoga High School are what make it a great place to be in, but the people who make it the best place it could be are our lunch ladies.
The lunch lady team consists of Mary Simmerman, Marsha Nehring, Debbie Fox, and Diane Reis. Reis and Nehring also help out with cleaning after lunch duties are done.
Simmerman has worked at Conestoga before, but has been back for a year. She chose to come back because she loves the comradery and her peers. Nehring has been working here for 11 years. Her favorite part of her job is breakfast because, “Deb makes it and I get to serve it.” Fox has been working here for one and a half years. Reis has been working here for eight years and her favorite part of her job is being around her “work family”.
All of the lunch ladies are working hard through challenges that they didn’t expect to face.
“The hardest part about all the construction at the school is not having enough storage,” Fox shares. “We also had to find new ways to cook the food.”
Even though the lunch team is dealing with construction in the kitchen, they’re making it work. They’re finding new ways to do things and are innovative with food ideas. They’re also not letting the challenges get to them. All of them are cheery and fun to be around. They love their jobs and the school they’re at.“My favorite part about being a lunch lady here is the atmosphere and being around all of the kids,” Simmerman says.
