At Conestoga High School, the sophomore and junior classes have just submitted their National Honor Society applications. The applications will decide who all gained a spot as a member of the NHS. The people who decide what happens, is made up of a board of around 7 people and the applicants will be notified mid March.
You might be wondering what all the NHS does and why so many people want to be a part of it? "What do they do?," asked Dylan B, Freshman at Conestoga.
National Honor Society is an organization known for doing public service. This public service could range from food drives to supporting animal shelters and cleaning litter around public places. They also promote student wellbeing and reinforce the idea students should be good leaders, and focus in school.
"The submissions were due Friday," stated Rebecca Spangler, NHS advisor.
The submissions will be reviewed early March but according to Spangler it's hard for the board to meet up at an agreed time. It's also stated that they can tell who uses AI, who lies, and who all gave no effort in the making of their submissions.
“It is hard for all the board members to meet up at an agreed time,” said Spangler. "They all have their own lives so it's important the students stay patient.”
Many people from Conestoga have submitted on time and no late submissions may be entered.
“Just make sure you get the submissions in on Friday,” Spangler shared. “Good luck!”
The school has so many amazing applicants and Spangler is hopeful the best get in.
