Murray, NEB. – A final year to make high school memories and say one last goodbye to the school that made us who we are today. Students get the chance to play their sports for one last season, attend games a few more times, have a final spirit week, and so much more. It is full of things we have experienced over the years and took for granted. This is the year we take a minute to look at it all and appreciate those final memories. We will meet new people throughout the year and see new places. There will be colleges contacting some and job offers lined up for others. We will start to look into our future and plan what the next couple steps are to be. Senior year is a year filled with new experiences, new and happy memories, but there is a bittersweet feeling to it all.

This year is the year we are set free to experience the world and it is up to us what we make of our lives. That is a lot of pressure to be under and whether or not we will stick together with our friends is unknown to us. We may go to college, go straight to the workforce, make entirely new friends, or stick to the ones we already know. The world is our oyster, as some may say. Now, if we are being completely honest with ourselves, that is terrifying. No matter if we know what we are doing or not, there is a world of possibilities and we don’t know if the world will be in our favor or completely against us. This is where we have to trust our gut and trust that the world has a plan for us all.

When in a moment of so much stress and worry, it is key to focus on the present. Staying in the present is going to be the best thing we can do. Although, we obviously need to look ahead and plan our futures a bit. The future does not have to define our current situation. We are allowed to have fun and make memories now and leave the future to determine itself a bit. This is the year we have left to spend all those moments with our friends and family. The year to go for it, try new things, and be more involved. Senior year is the year to live life to the fullest and the year to remember. It is our job as seniors to live life and don’t stress ourselves out too much. We are growing into adults, but this is the year we have left to still be young and have a bit of fun.

Whatever we do, we have to enjoy this last year. We need to make key decisions and it can be a lot, but we have to ensure not to let it become too much. We cannot let the future impact our present memories. When you look back at this year, you don’t want to wish you did more or spent more time with people, so this is why we need to live our lives now. Make this a senior year you want to remember and not one filled with regrets.
