The Wildcats played Elkhorn North on Thursday, Oct. 9, for their first sub district game.
The wildcats played Elkhorn North at Blair for their first sub-district game. Wildcats went in with their season record being 7-18 while Elkcorn North was 14-9 overall. Elkcorn ended up winning the game 8 to 0.
The Wildcats batted first for the game. The first two hits get fielded by the short stop and out at first. The third out was a strike out. Elkhorn was up next to bat hitting a lead off hit, a triple to left, landing her on third. The next batter hit a triple to right field scoring one run. Third batter hit the ball to short stop causing an RBI (run batted in). After that two outs were made. The game ended up going into the 5th inning. During the last inning an Elkhorn batter hit another triple, scoring a run and ending up at third. The last batter hit it down the third base line scoring the winning run of the game.
“I think my team did a very good job of sticking with them and not giving up. I think our team struggled on adapting during the game,” sophomore Morgan S stated. “We had a hard time trying to make contact with the ball at bat. We also struggled with confidence during the game. If I had a chance to play them again, something I would change would be the way we adapt to the game.”
The girls’ season has come to an end for the 2025 season. The team is still very young with most girls being freshman and sophomores. Only one senior is leaving the team.
