The Conestoga Cougars battled through two close games Tuesday evening, earning second place in a varsity volleyball triangular against Elmwood-Murdock and Louisville.
In the first game, Conestoga played against Elmwood-Murdock. The Cougars pushed through several long rallies, but Elmwood-Murdock still came through with the win, pushing us down, and having Elmwood-Murdock move up in the triangular.
Conestoga, in their second game versus Louisville, Conestoga Varsity outside hitters, Lorelai F and Maggie F had 20 kills combined.
“Volleyball has taught me that mistakes aren’t everything, volleyball is a game of mistakes, it has taught me to move on from things, because in the end, it is a team sport.” says Lorelai F. The team’s intensity led the game in Conestoga’s victory.
All those spikes were made possible by a steady set. Ayla G and Grace R, the main varsity setters, spread the ball around and kept Louisville’s defense running around the court. Their smart decisions and consistent spotting allowed hitters to attack in smart ways.
The Cougars 50 percent record on the evening won them second place overall in the triangular, with Elmwood-Murdock in first place and Louisville placing third.
Conestoga is ready to compete in their future matches, ready to continue on the teamwork that was shown Tuesday. With Lorelai F, Maggie F, Ayla G, and Grace R all stepping up in big ways, Cougar fans can expect more exciting volleyball in the upcoming games to come.
