Murray, NEB- Grace R. is a junior athlete and leader involved in multiple activities. She leads by example on and off the court and is a role model for many underclassmen.
She is a member of the basketball team, the volleyball team, a cheerleader, and a member of the National Honor Society. On the cheer and basketball teams, she holds leadership positions. She is a co-captain of the cheerleading team and is one of the basketball captains.
“I would describe my leadership style as laid back, but I also care about how each person does, and I try to always cheer on others,” Grace R. expressed. “If a person is having a bad day, I try to get them to smile.”
Throughout high school, she has experienced many successes and challenges. Her favorite memory from her first three years of high school was winning state cheer as a sophomore.
“It felt like all of the hard work from the team finally paid off and we got to showcase what we could do,” Grace explained.
Whether it’s playing games off the court or communicating on the court, she always strives to build strong relationships with her teammates and maintain a positive atmosphere.
“Grace is a great leader who consistently keeps the team motivated and encourages the team to do their best,” her teammate Izzy B. emphasized. “She communicates and keeps us connected during hard times.”
Grace R. has learned important lessons from herself and others throughout her time in high school. “I have learned that it is important to step out of your comfort zone,” she reflected. “To grow not only as a player but as a person, you need to do things that make you uncomfortable and gain experience.”
