FFA Week is about recognizing the impact of agriculture and preparing students to become leaders in their schools and communities. FFA week is typically celebrated in February, the Saturday before George Washington's birthday. The FFA members of Conestoga celebrated this week by participating in school dress-up days.
On Tuesday, students participated in “Dress Like a Farmer Day.” The students wore overalls, boots, flannels, and cowboy hats to represent the agricultural community. “Dressing up as a farmer served as a celebration to the organization and the professionals who feed the nation,” stated Lilly T. The day was a fun yet meaningful way to honor the hardworking farmers who help feed the nation.
Wednesday was “Dress as a Teacher Day,” giving students the chance to recognize the educators who guide and support them. Many students dressed up as their favorite teacher to celebrate their school spirit.
Thursday featured “Wear Blue and Gold Day,” celebrating the official FFA colors. Blue represents the sky and opportunity, while gold symbolizes the harvest and prosperity. Students wore their FFA jackets and school colors with pride. During Cougar Connections, they took a picture to show their support and ate some pie.
“The jacket is worn as part of the official FFA uniform during events like competitions, conventions, meetings, and ceremonies. It helps identify members and represents the values of FFA, such as leadership, personal growth, and career success in agriculture,” stated Morgan S. “National Blue represents the blue sky over America and the opportunities available in agriculture and leadership. Corn Gold represents golden fields of harvested corn and symbolizes agriculture and prosperity. Members wear the jacket to show pride in FFA, represent their chapter and state, and demonstrate professionalism and unity.”
The week concluded on Friday with “Dress in USA Colors and Drive Your Tractor to School Day.” The students went all out with their flashy American colors, and several students drove tractors to school as a highlight of the celebration.
Through dress-up days and school-wide participation, Conestoga’s FFA members successfully celebrated FFA Week. The activities not only built excitement and school spirit but also reinforced the importance of agriculture and leadership in their community.
