Conestoga’s One Act team placed third at Lincoln Southwest on Saturday, Nov. 15. There were eight total teams in the competition.
About one-third of Conestoga’s stage crew was missing, causing problems for the team. Things became messy and people who did stage crew had to take on tasks that they weren’t trained for. The actors and stage crew who attended the event were struggling to get what they needed done.
“It was very disappointing that people didn’t show up, and things kept going wrong because of it,” states Braxton G., who is part of the team’s ensemble.
Despite the challenges the team faced, they still managed to pull through and beat five other schools. Their team put in a lot of hard work to be able to get to where they ended up, all of the students finding moments that they loved.
“My favorite part about one act is the people. We are with each other all the time so we have gotten to know each other very well. This has created a long lasting friendship that I am so happy to be a part of,” Mya K. states.
Their season is wrapping up, districts are on Friday, Dec. 5. Many of the team members are excited for next season, and all of them are putting in all their effort in order to be ready for districts.
“Next season I’m excited for all the new members that will hopefully join the team,” Mya K. says. “Creating a friendship I can’t wait to see evolve.”
