Win Time has started for the first time this semester. WIN Time is every other Wednesday.
WIN Time is a 30 minute period where students are grouped with people with common interests and they are able to learn new things that will help them in life or provide enjoyment. WIN Time stands for “What I Need Time”. The school switched from games to WIN Time to make Cougar Connections time more educational, but with opportunities that you do not usually have in school. The idea behind switching was to ”Do educational things that aren’t something to do with school,” stated Shannon Conant.
Students can not change their WIN Time activity until next quarter by taking a survey later on this quarter. There are 16 WIN Time activities each of them are led by a teacher or teachers. Those activities are: upcycling, history appreciation, geography, poetry, ACT prep, creative problem solving, music appreciation, book club, chess, trivia/quiz bowl, photography, yoga and meditation, model airplanes, movie making, animation, sports/stats/stratege, and also study hall. These topics were chosen by the teachers.
WIN Time is going well so far, according to student input. “People are enjoying it so far,” exclaimed Conant. “I enjoyed it and I learned how to animate,” explained Joana B in animation.
